| November’s team drill focused on two major skill stations: line gun operations and drone support. For many newer members, it was their first time seeing how these tools work and can be utilized either individually or together during water and technical rescues. A lot of folks don’t know what a line gun is. It’s a specialized device that launches a high-strength line over long distances, typically across water or difficult terrain, allowing rescuers to establish a rope system quickly. Members had the chance to fire it safely under supervision so they can stay proficient when the need arises in a real emergency. We also ran a full station on drone operations. Our non-pilot team members learned how to assist with setup, manage communications and video feeds, troubleshoot issues, and break down equipment after a mission. These support roles are just as important as flying the drone itself, especially during time-sensitive searches. Our DJI M30T was utilized for this training. Solid turnout, great training, and another excellent day of sharpening skills that matter when seconds count. Thank you, Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company, for letting us utilize your grounds for this training! |
